5 Spring Gardening Tips for the Bay Area

The beginning of spring came and went a month ago, so if you haven’t gotten out in your garden yet, now’s the time. The growing season in the Bay Area is long, but there’s a time for everything, so here are several spring tips to help you get your garden in shape for the season.  1. Get the Garden Cleaned Out Begin your garden maintenance with a little spring cleaning. Get rid of the leaves and other debris that are cluttering your garden. Pull any weeds (dead or alive) and be sure to get the roots so they don’t grow back. This is a good time to make sure your gardening tools are in good working order as well.  2. Fertilize the Soil It’s likely your soil could use a little boost, so visit your local garden supply store to pick up some compost or manure.
